This was intended to be a lazy day! Somehow it just got away from me. I didn’t realize how much so until recently, when I looked at my watch and realized that maybe I didn’t have time this afternoon to create 8 new webpages for my site. Oh darn, I will have to leave it to another day.
My best intentions for a lazy day came on the heels of a busy week, and entertaining friends, last night. Usually the combination of wine, and rich food (i.e. mayonnaise and sugar) leave me feeling bit lethargic the next day. So I started out that way, lethargic. I lethargically sat outside, reading the paper, drinking hot tea while doing two loads of laundry. Then I lethargically took a shower, got dressed and drove to Santa Rosa to view a Memorial Day tribute to soldiers fallen in Iraq, at a local high school.
It was very moving, these 2400 pairs of shoes: running, flip-flops, stilettos, bunny slippers, oxfords, baby shoes, mocassins, leather boots, big shoes, little shoes, long shoes, wide shoes, all lined up in formation, with an accompanying tent sign and a flag. Had feet stood in those shoes, the gymnasium would have been packed.
By then I needed some comfort food, so I headed to Starbucks for a frappachino and then to Whole Foods for something from the deli. Once home, I lethargically shot digitals of the four most recently completed art quilts, and then spent copious time in PhotoShop, culling, re-sizing and saving the images for hi-res slides, and then 3 more sizes for the web. And further uploaded the hi-res work for the slides which will arrive next week, by Fedex.
And that is when I realized that my lethargic day turned into yet another day in the life of an over-achiever! And that I owe myself a day off. Well, maybe tomorrow…
